Governor attends 150th foundation Day of Arya Samaj and Uttar Purvanchal Arya Sammelan 2026

Guwahati, Rongili Barta:: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended the 150th foundation Day celebrations of Arya Samaj and underscored India’s civilizational heritage and the reformist legacy of the Arya Samaj.

Extending his congratulations, the Governor invoked the Rigvedic message “Sangachchhadhwam Samvadadhwam Sam Vo Manamsi Janatam”, which means, “Let us walk together, think together, and work in harmony for the welfare of society”. He said that the celebration reflects the eternal Vedic spirit of unity and collective progress.

Shri Acharya observed that India, one of the world’s most ancient living civilizations, has always guided humanity through knowledge, compassion, and righteousness. At a time when society was burdened by superstition, social inequalities, and intellectual stagnation, the emergence of Swami Dayanand Saraswati marked a turning point in India’s social and intellectual awakening.

With his call of “Back to the Vedas,” Swami Dayanand promoted reason, reform, and education. He opposed caste discrimination and untouchability, championed women’s education, and encouraged rational thought. The Governor noted that Arya Samaj’s pillars of education, reform, and service strengthened national consciousness and played a meaningful role in Northeast India as well.

Quoting Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Governor said that India’s true strength lies in its culture, values, and awakened citizenry, adding that Arya Samaj has nurtured this consciousness for 150 years. He stated that modern initiatives in women’s empowerment, sustainability, and social reform reflect the enduring impact of Swami Dayanand’s vision.

Calling upon the youth to combine scientific temper with Indian values, the Governor expressed hope that the 150th Foundation Year of the Samaj would serve as a renewed resolve for social reform and national development during this Amrit Kaal.

The programme was attended by Dr. Aruna Upadhyay, President of Arya Samaj, Guwahati, Shri Dhanesh Prasad Goyal, representatives of Arya Samaj temples across the Northeast, members of D.A.V. Schools and Vedic Gurukuls, and other distinguished personalities.
