Governor attends Samriddha Assam: Skills and Transformation Conclave 2025
Youthful population of Assam remains the greatest driving force behind unprecedented development of the state: Governor
Guwahati,Rongili Barta: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended the Samriddha Assam: Skills and Transformation Conclave 2025, organised by Jankalyan Trust here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Shri Acharya underscored that skill development lies at the core of economic prosperity and social transformation. He stated that skills being a pathway to employment is also the foundation of self-reliance, self-respect, and self-confidence. A skilled youth emerges as a committed partner in nation-building.

Appreciating the efforts of Jankalyan Trust, the Governor said that the organisation is playing a commendable role in empowering rural youth through skill-based, technical, vocational, and entrepreneurship oriented training, thereby strengthening Assam’s socio-economic landscape.
Highlighting the rich natural and cultural endowments of the state, the Governor said that Assam is blessed with the abundant natural resources, biodiversity, fertile land etc. He added that Assam has earned national and international recognition in the fields of culture, literature, sports, and education.
The Governor further stated that Assam has made notable progress on the path of peace, stability, and development. Expansion of infrastructure, improved road, rail, and air connectivity, along with new initiatives in health and education, have steered the state to a new era of growth. He emphasised that the youthful population of Assam remains the greatest driving force behind this transformation.

Referring to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Governor said that national initiatives such as the Skill Development Mission, Startup India, Make in India, and Digital India have opened new opportunities for the youth, with Assam emerging as a strong partner in this nationwide transformation.
Highlighting landmark projects such as the semiconductor plant at Jagiroad and the fertiliser plant at Namrup, the Governor stated that these initiatives would propel Assam to new industrial and technological heights, generate employment, and establish the state as a major industrial hub. He stressed that equipping youth with modern technology, innovation, and industry-oriented skills is essential to realise this vision.

The Governor noted that the State Government is actively promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship alongside government employment. Through the Assam Skill Development Mission, high-quality training is being imparted to youth, while educational institutions are being encouraged to integrate skill development courses to foster innovation, research, and a startup ecosystem.
Emphasising the importance of women empowerment, the Governor said that true societal progress is achieved only when women are empowered. He expressed pride in the achievements of women of Assam in education, health, science, administration, sports, and entrepreneurship, stating that their active participation is guiding the state towards inclusive, balanced, and humane development.

During the event, the Governor conferred the JKT Samriddha Assam 2025 Award upon noted social worker Shri Parshwa Jyoti Handique.
Director, National Institute of Rural Development, Shri Murugesan Ramasamy; Chief General Manager, NABARD Assam, Shri Loken Das; Chairman, Jankalyan Trust, Shri Harsh Dev Arya; Executive Director, NEDFi, Shri Lemli Loy; along with several other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
