Raj Bhavan Assam celebrates Jharkhand foundation day

Floral tributes paid to Bhagwan Birsa Munda

Guwahati,Rongili Barta: Raj Bhavan Assam, under the guidance of Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, celebrated the foundation day of Jharkhand as part of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative in Raj Bhavan here today. This national programme, envisioned by the  Prime Minister and the union Home Minister, aims to strengthen cultural bonds and foster unity among India’s diverse states.

The event was attended by Commissioner & Secretary to the Governor, S. S. Meenakshi Sundaram, senior Raj Bhavan officials, and distinguished representatives from Jharkhand.

The celebration also coincided with Janjatiya Gaurav Divas observed on the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda to honour the contributions of tribal freedom fighters and acknowledge the rich legacy of India’s tribal communities.

As a mark of reverence, floral tributes were offered to Dharti Abba Bhagwan Birsa Munda on his 150th birth anniversary.

Addressing on the occasion, Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor, S. S. Meenakshi Sundaram highlighted the profound influence of Bhagawan Birsa Munda that connects India’s tribal communities. He said that the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda serves as a platform for cultural reflection, exchange, and celebration.

He noted that India is home to several tribal groups, each with unique traditions, yet bound by a shared human connection. He said that ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ embodies this vision, celebrating the unity in diversity. Jharkhand, with its vibrant tribal culture and rich heritage, is an integral part of this national mosaic, Shri Sundaram added.

He further emphasized Jharkhand’s important contributions to India’s cultural and socio-economic landscape. “Often referred to as the Land of Forests, Jharkhand is blessed with natural beauty and cultural wealth. From its lush landscapes to its sacred traditions, the state plays a vital role in preserving the essence of India’s indigenous roots.

The celebration at Raj Bhavan Assam showcased Jharkhand’s remarkable journey from attaining statehood to its continued efforts in promoting tribal rights, environmental conservation, and cultural preservation. The event underscored the significance of mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation in bolstering India’s unity.

It may be noted that Raj Bhavan Assam regularly commemorates the foundation days of various States and Union Territories as part of its ongoing commitment to fostering national harmony and cultural exchange, reaffirming the spirit of togetherness that defines India’s diversity.
