SITA signs MoU with Ghanakanta Baruah College College, Morigaon in collaboration with Jarabari Agro Producers Co-operative Society Ltd
Dispur,Rongili Barta: A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA), Assam and Ghanakanta Baruah College, Morigaon in collaboration with Jarabari Agro Producers Co-operative Society Ltd. in the presence of Hon’ble Vice Chairman Shri Narayan Chandra Borkataky on January 30, 2025 at his office chamber at Janata Bhawan, Dispur to execute the project on “Scientific Goat Farming”. The MoA was signed by Chief Executive Officer Shri P Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, IAS on behalf of SITA and Dr. Bishnu Prasad Upadhaya, Principal of GB College, Morigaon on behalf of GB College, Morigaon.
The project aims to empowering individuals with practical skills and provide practical training for empowering skill in goat farming. It also aims in establishing a village level knowledge sharing centre for dissemination of technology and capacity building of women farmers for undertaking goat farming as profitable business enterprise. The scheme is prepared in four clusters each with a unit of 20 women beneficiaries. Each cluster will be provided financial aid prior to which training of the beneficiaries shall be mandated before the commencement of farms.
In the meeting Hon’ble Vice-Chairman Shri Narayan Chandra Borkataky stated that the project will upscale the economy of the state especially in the field of agriculture and hoped that the project which is sponsored by SITA will be successful in enhancing productivity of livestock and poultry and at the same time upgrade the skills of women farming community.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Panchi Devi, Nodal & Coordinating Officer, Dr. Jintu Deka, Assistant Professor of GB College, beneficiaries from Jarabari Agro Producers Co-operative Society Ltd and officials of SITA.
