Raj Bhavan Assam celebrates State Day of Uttar Pradesh

Governor emphasizes on mutual friendship of Assam and Uttar Pradesh

Guwahati, Rongili Barta-  To take national unity to a greater height, Raj Bhavan Assam under the leadership and presence of Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, celebrated the state day of Uttar Pradesh at GMCH auditorium yesterday. It may be noted that as a part of the Central Government’s decision to celebrate the state days of different states in the Raj Bhavans across the country, Raj Bhavan Assam celebrated the state day of Uttar Pradesh. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Shri  Kataria said, “It is a matter of pleasure for us that Assam has started a healthy tradition of celebrating the state day of all the states. As we celebrate the State Day of Uttar Pradesh, let us all rejoice and reiterate our firm resolve to strengthen our mutual friendship and strengthen the foundation of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat.” Shri Kataria also congratulated the residents of UP living in UP and elsewhere on the occasion of Statehood. He said that the purpose of this programme celebrated in Assam is to strengthen the bond between the local people of Assam and those who have come from Uttar Pradesh. He also said that the bond of friendship would be strengthened through such programs. Besides, it would also facilitate cultural exchanges between UP and other territorial regions of the country. Governor Kataria along with the other dignitaries also paid floral tributes to the state icons and state legends those who fought hard to build their state. Minister for the Department of Housing & Urban Affairs and Irrigation, Govt. of Assam Ashok Singhal also delivered his speech on the occasion. He spoke on the age old friendship and camaraderie between Assam and UP. Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor S.S. Meenakshi Sundaram presented the welcome address. Special Chief Secretary, Govt of Assam Syedain Abbasi, DGP Assam, GP Singh, former DGP Tripura & Assam G.M. Srivastava, Vice Chancellor Royal Global University Prof. S.P. Singh, IGP Training and Armed Police and Communication Akhilesh Kumar Singh also spoke on the occasion. A cultural programme was also organized showcasing the rich culture of Uttar Pradesh. The programme was attended by the members of Uttar Pradesh  community and people from other parts of society.
