Governor attends Platinum jubilee celebration of Gauhati High Court Bar Association

Guwahati, Rongili Barta- Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria attended the Platinum jubilee celebration of Gauhati High Court Bar Association at the Gauhati High court (old campus premises) in the city. Speaking at the function, Shri Kataria said that Gauhati High Court Bar Association stands as an epitome of aiding the legal system. It has produced lawyers who have not only served at the pinnacle of the judicial system, but also contributed to a broad spectrum of legal discourse and legal services to the people. The services given by Gauhati High Court Bar Association plays an important role in maintaining law and order within the society. The Association serves as a protection against violation of individual rights and ensures that wrongdoers face appropriate consequences for their actions. Shri Kataria also said that the services provided by the Association ensures giving legal rights to the people of all sections. It also acts as a deterrent, discouraging potential criminals from engaging in illegal activities and promoting a sense of accountability and responsibility in the society. The Governor also said, “The anniversary is not just about looking back—it’s a celebration of the commitment to justice, equality, and the rule of law. The senior advocates we honored haven’t just upheld these principles; they’ve strengthened them with examples and determination.” Shri Kataria also said that the legal community should ensure justice for the underprivileged. The Gauhati High Court Bar Association should prioritize providing legal services to the weak and underprivileged.  Hon’ble Mr. Justice Hrishikesh Roy, Judge Supreme Court of India, Hon’ble Mr.  Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan, Judge Supreme Court of India, Justice Lanusungkum Jamir, Chief Justice (Acting) of Gauhati High Court, President and Senior Advocate of Gauhati High Court Bar Association Mrinal Kumar Chaudhary, Judges of Gauhati High Court along with a host of other dignitaries were also present in the function.
