 Governor attends celebration of Vijay Divas

Remembers the valiance, sacrifice of the men in uniform

Guwahati, Rongili Barta-  On the occasion of Vijay Divas, to commemorate the victory of India over Pakistan in 1971 war, Assam Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria attended a programme organized by Seemanta Chetana Mancha Purvottar at Lakhsmiram Baruah Sadan in the city .  The Governor in his address said that, “Vijay Diwas is celebrated to celebrate and honor the victory of the Indian Armed Forces over Pakistan in the 1971 war. This was the largest military surrender on the part of the soldiers of the neighbours since World War II. This war was a decisive victory for India to establish India’s military dominance. I salute the brave martyrs and soldiers of our army and congratulate all of you on this historic day. Today is a day to salute the courage and valiance of the Indian Army and its brave soldiers.” Shri Kataria also said, “Our soldiers sacrifice their lives not only for the present, but also for the future generations to secure the future of the nation. Duty is paramount for them. We should always respect this indomitable spirit of soldiers. We should be proud of their bravery. The victory of the 1971 war will continue to inspire people for many generations”.  Shri Kataria hailed Seemanta Chetana Manch Purvottar for organizing such programs to inculcate the spirit of patriotism among the people and promote national unity and integrity. He wished the Seemanta Chetana Manch Purvottar all luck for its work and hoped that the organization would continue in its efforts to inspire citizens to serve the country. The meeting was attended by novelist Mrs. Manikuntala Bhattacharya, State President of Seemanta Chetana Manch Purvottar Dr. Binita Bhagwati, columnist Pradyumna Goswami along with a host of other dignitaries.
