M Hashim Ali,Dibrugarh, Rongili Barta- “To kill a man for no reason is to kill the whole human race and to save the life of a man is to save the life of the whole human race” This was stated with the help of references from the holy Qur’an yesterday on (8/10/23 )by the noted orator, former retired Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science of Dibrugarh University Dr. Adil-ul-Yasin. Dr Yasin was speaking as the Moderator at a seminar that was held at Graham Bazar, Dibrugarh on the occasion of Centrally observed Fateha-e-Dawaz Daham . He said that since the destruction of the World Trade Center in the United States on September 11, 2001, Western countries have been promoting the entire Muslim community as terrorists. But, all Muslims are not terrorists; Terrorists have no religion or caste. He added that to understand the Holy Qur’an in its true spirit, one must study the biography of the Prophet Muhammad, the preacher of Islam. Speaking in the seminar titled “Misinterpretation and ignorance of Islamic customs are the main causes of the current growing Islamic terror worldwide”- Dr. Rajiv Handique, a prominent historian and Professor at the University of Guwahati said “The Qur’an speaks of justice”. He opined that the West laughs when people die in bombings or wars in some Muslim countries, but no one tries to find a solution for peace. He also said that we can build a larger bridge of harmony by connecting small bridges.observing that the Qur’an speaks of giving women equal rights to property, he said Dibrugarh is truly a meeting place of harmony. We Hindus and Muslims have been living in harmony for centuries here. Referring to the Talibans, he said they do not allow girls to go to school on the grounds of religion, which is completely against Islamic thought. Releasing a souvenir edited by Mr. Imran Hussain, Professor of History, Dibrugarh University, Dr. Chandan Kumar Sharma, said, “There will be different languages and cultures everywhere. The important thing is to maintain coordination between them”. He also stated that where there is good inter-relationship, there is less conflict. The programme started with a recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Jonab Nasir Saheb which was follewed by a Welcome address by the Dibrugarh District Sadar Qazi and President of the Celebration Committee Maulana Ainan Zuberi. Iqbal Ahmed, Executive President of the Celebration Committee and prominent journalist, introduced the seminar. The event also witnessed felicitation and rememberence of two eminent educationists and social workers of Dibrugarh city, Professor Bhimkanta Konwar and Professor Sunil Kumar Barthakur. Certificates were read out by Sehir Ahmed and were later handed over to the families of the two deceased educationists by Director Dr. Adil-ul-Yasin. Various competetions were also organised as a part of the celebration. The results competetionsd like Quran recitation, Nate Rasul, quiz, essay competition etc. were announced by Imdad Ali, the chief in charge of the competition sub-committee and assisted by Mustaq Hussain and his colleagues. The prizes were distributed at the awards ceremony held in the afternoon. In the main function held in the evening two noted Islamic theologists Moulana Ajmal Hussain and Moulana Nurul Hussain Kasimi delivered valuable speech. Members of organisations like The Dibrugarh Eidgah Management Committee , Naliapool Musafir Khana Management Committee and Naliapool Muslim Youth Forum were felicitated for their active cooperation in the celebration of the event. After the programme, prayers for world peace were offered.
