The Indian Air Force rescues 13 stranded fishermen in the Brahmaputra
M. Hashim Ali,Dibrugarh,Rongili Barta-  13 youths of Amaraguri village near Bagmibar  Nilamani Phukan Higher Secondary School in, Dibrugarh went for fishing on a  small boat in the Brahmaputra river on 29th June last. Their boat was stranded in the middle of the river due to the rise of the water level of the Brahmaputra.  The fishermen tried to reach the shore but were tired out of their struggle against the strong currents of the Brahmaputra. The fishermen’s boat was in danger of getting drowned. The only means of communication with their families was their mobile phones. But even the mobile phones failed due to lack of charge and the fishermen had become more worried.  The family members informed the administration after their mobile phones were switched off. The incident came to light when Khowang Constituency MLA Chakradhar Gogoi uploaded the incident on his Facebook page.  The district administration of Dibrugarh engaged the SDRF and NDRF forces and the Inland Water Transport Department but due to they were not able to rescue the youths due to very high rise in the water level of the Brahmaputra. Finally, the Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully rescued 13 people stranded in Hatiali (Char area) of Dibrugarh this morning (July 2). The families expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the Dibrugarh District Administration and all the officials of the Indian Air Force.
