SIGNING OF PETROLEUM EXPLORATION LICENSE (OPEN ACREAGE
LICENSING POLICY(OALPBLOCKS) DEED BETWEEN OIL INDIA LTD. AND GOVERNMENT OF ASSAM
Guwahati,Rongili Barta- Govt. of Assam has signed PEL deeds of 2 OALP blocks with Oil India Ltd on 9 th February 2023 in the Conference Hall of Directorate of Geology and Mining, Guwahati amidst a gathering of distinguished officials from State government & Oil India Limited. Shri Ananda Kr. Das, Joint Secretary & Director (Geology & Mining), Government of Assam & Shri J.P P. .Das , Executive Director (Frontier Basin), OIL, have signed the deeds on behalf of Govt,of Assam and Oil India Limited. The two OALP blocks are AA-ONHP-2021/2 and AA-ONHP-2021/3. The area under the block, AS-ONHP-2021/2 measuring 2445.30 Sq.km falls in the districts of Barpeta, Nalbari, Baksa, and Kamrup District (Pathsala Block) whereas the block, AS-ONHP-2021/3 measuring 1840.87 Sq.km is spread in the areas of Udalguri, Kamrup & Darrang districts of Assam (Mangaldai Block). This is the first time of oil history to start exploration for Crude oil and Natural Gas in the northern bank of Brhamaputra in lower Assam. If the area proves promising then it will bring new dimension to the state. OIL will invest around 12 Crore in these projects and will start seismic survey from February 2023.
