Raj Bhavan Assam celebrates foundation day of States and Union Territories
Celebrations of State foundation days enable us to strengthen the collective vision of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat: Governor
Guwahati,Rongili Barta: Raj Bhavan Assam, under the leadership of Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, organized a two-day celebration of the Foundation Days of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Delhi, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Chandigarh and Puducherry at the GMCH Auditorium on October 31 and 1 November respectively.

The two-day events held as part of the Government of India’s initiative to celebrate the Statehood Days of different States and Union Territories across all other States and Union Territories in the country, with the objective of strengthening the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.

Sharing his thoughts on the occasion, Governor Shri Acharya said, “Today is an auspicious day that celebrates India’s historical and cultural pride, and observing the State Foundation Days across the country strengthens the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. Let us all rejoice and reiterate our firm resolve to strengthen our mutual friendship.”

The Governor reflected on India’s ancient civilization, describing it as the land of wisdom and abundance, and expressed his pride of being a citizen of such a great nation. Referring to the revered saints Srimanta Sankardeva, and Madhavdeva, the Governor said that it is heartening to see that today, India continues to carry forward the divine legacy of the saints to enrich its socio, cultural and spiritual repository.

Governor Shri Acharya emphasized that the purpose of celebrating State Foundation Days is to awaken a sense of respect and gratitude towards India’s rich culture, vibrant traditions, and great personalities. He asked all to contribute to the development and progress of their respective states, thereby realizing the collective vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.

He hailed the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, whose aim is to weave India’s cultural diversity into a single, harmonious thread. “This celebration inspires us to learn about each other’s traditions, languages, art forms, etc and connect emotionally as one nation. The Governor on the occasion paid tribute to the great souls who dedicated their lives to the growth and development of their respective states, noting that their hard work and sacrifices have helped India emerge as a strong and forward-looking nation. He remarked that this day is not merely the commemoration of the formation of states, but a celebration of India’s unity in diversity, reminding all that every state and region forms an inseparable part of the nation’s collective soul.

Earlier, Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor, S. S. Meenakshi Sundaram, delivered the welcome address. Minister Environment and Forests, etc. Govt. of Assam Chandra Mohan Patowary, Chief Secretary, Assam Dr. Ravi Kota; Chairman, Assam Administrative and Pension Tribunal M. Ariz Ahammed; Addl. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Afforestation) K.S.P.V. Pavan Kumar; Commissioner and Secretary, Personnel Department, and GAD M. S. Manivannan, Director, IIT Guwahati Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Head, Deptt. of Health Sciences and Technology Prof. S. Kanagaraj along with a host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
