Raj Bhavan Assam celebrates foundation day of Nagaland

Guwahati,Rongili Barta-  In an effort to promote a sense of unity and the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, Raj Bhavan Assam celebrated the foundation day of Nagaland in its premises here today. This celebration is part of the Central government’s initiative to observe the statehood days of other states in Raj Bhavans across the country. Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, former Addl. Chief Secretary, Govt.of Assam Himanshu Sekhar Das, IAS (Retd.), emphasized that commemorating statehood days is a commendable initiative which has the potential in fostering friendship and facilitating cultural exchange between states. He highlighted the enduring camaraderie between Assam and Nagaland, citing historical instances of collaboration between the Naga and Assamese communities, such as Godapani and Dalimi saga from Ahom era. Shri Das underscored the significance of the people of Northeast exploring and understanding their respective states, advocating for a collective alliance that promotes mutual growth. He also stated Nagaland’s historical importance, particularly in the context of the Second World War, with the Battle of Kohima holding a special place. He suggested that creating a movie depicting the saga of the Kohima war could enhance the overall tourism scenario of the state. Moreover, he also mentioned and paid tribute to Dr. T Aao, who represented India in the 1948 Football World Cup.  Former Chief Secretary of the State T.Y Das also attended the event as the Guest of Honour, who highlighted the role of such occasions in fostering relationships among states. Regional Passport Officer Cherakung Zeliang and Mhonchumo Humstoe representing the Civic Society of Naga diaspora in Guwahati expressed their thoughts on the significance of events like these in building bridges and fostering understanding among communities. Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor S.S.Meenakshi Sundaram, Archbishop of Guwahati John Moolachira, DRCs of Nagaland and Tripura along with other dignitaries attended the function.
