Raj Bhavan Assam celebrates foundation day of Jharkhand

Guwahati,Rongili Barta- Raj Bhavan Assam today celebrated the foundation day of Jharkhand at its conference hall here today. It may be noted that as a part of the Central Government’s decision to celebrate the statehood days of different states in the Raj Bhavans across the country, Raj Bhavan Assam celebrated the statehood day of Jharkhand. On this occasion, Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor S.S.Meenakshi Sundaram and the officers and staff of Raj Bhavan paid floral tributes to the iconic freedom fighter and Tribal Leader of Jharkhand Bhagwan Birsa Munda on the occasion of 3rd Janajatiya Gaurav Divas. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sundaram said that the state of Jharkhand is rich in natural resources. The state is also known for its ethnic diversity. He also said that Bhagwan Birsa Munda the leader of the tribal people led the independence movement when development networks and communication networks did not exist. Since then Jharkhand besides attaining complete statehood has come a long way in contributing greatly to the economic growth of the nation. Shri Sundaram also said, “We are celebrating Janajatiya Gaurav Divas on the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda . This day is for all the indigenous and tribal people of the nation. This day is for all the tribal groups and this is the best day to reaffirm our resolve to work for all the tribal people.” The programme was attended by a few dignitaries from Jharkhand namely Sukhdev Rai and Shankar Kumar Mistri. Moreover, Secretary to the Governor Swapna Dutta Deka along with other officers and staff of Raj Bhavan were also present on the occasion.
