Raj Bhavan Assam Celebrates Foundation Day of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram
Celebration of Foundation Days strengthen the Spirit of National Integration and essence of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat: Governor
Guwahati, Rongili Barta: In a move to celebrate the cultural diversity and the rich heritage of the nation, Raj Bhavan Assam, under the leadership of Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, celebrated the foundation day of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram at a programme held at the Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University auditorium here.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Shri Acharya said that the celebration of the foundation days of various states under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, is a part of the ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat’ initiative. He emphasized that this historic initiative is a testimony to India’s rich cultural heritage and serves as a corner stone to foster mutual cooperation, harmony, and national unity among different states. He further noted that the celebration of statehood days provides a unique opportunity for citizens to understand the diverse traditions, languages, folk arts, heritage, and historical contributions of other states, thereby promoting dialogue and collaboration.
The Governor highlighted that India is a living example of ‘Unity in Diversity.’ He pointed out that each state in the country holds its own unique identity, language, art, culture, and traditions, and that this diversity is the nation’s greatest strength. “Unity in diversity is India’s hallmark, and it is what has made India unique in the world,” said Shri Acharya.
He further stressed that the event serves as a reminder that, no matter which state the countrymen belong to, they are all integral parts of one unified nation. Understanding, appreciating, and respecting each other’s culture, he added, is the foundation of India’s strength. Shri Acharya also spoke about the strategic importance of Arunachal Pradesh. He lauded the state’s geographical significance and its role in safeguarding India’s borders, with particular mention of the dedication of the army, paramilitary forces, and local citizens. The bravery and patriotism shown by the soldiers are always source of inspiration.
Talking about Mizoram, the Governor hailed the state’s rich cultural heritage, music, dance, and social harmony. He commended the Mizo society’s ability to balance traditional values with modernity. Highlighting the state’s lush green hills, rivers, waterfalls, and forests, Shri Acharya lauded the State’s exemplary role of Mizoram in environmental conservation and wildlife protection. He said that Mioram plays a crucial role in the country’s climate balance and environmental health.
The celebration was attended by several dignitaries, including the Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, Shri Biswajit Daimary, Judge, Gauhati High Court Hon’ble Mr. Justice Michael Zothankhuma, Joint Secretary Bidit Das, Vice-Chancellor, KKHS Open University Prof. Rajendra Prasad Das, Addl. Resident Commissioner, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh Dr. Dilip Kumar Chutia, Vice President, HQ, Nyishi Elite Society Er. Toko Onujalong with other notable guests, who joined in honoring the cultural contributions and unique identities of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram.
