Prime Minister’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ at Kanai College, Dibrugarh :: Programme conducted by PEX AIR Dibrugarh Centre, Parasha Konwar

It is not a medium where one has to search for one thing and get lost among ten others. Saying this, Programme Executive of Dibrugarh Akashvani Centre, Parasha Konwar, inaugurated the Prime Minister’s “Mann Ki Baat” programme on 22 February at DHS Kanai College (Autonomous). Parasha Konwar further stated that in the world there is only one broadcasting medium that has already completed one hundred years. Apart from Akashvani, there is no second medium as powerful as this. He also said that Akashvani’s programmes enhance people’s imaginative power and preserve the purity of language. He mentioned that only through the development of language can a nation progress, and added that Akashvani centres have always emphasized linguistic correctness. Along with that, they have helped cultivate imaginative minds among people.At the programme, the Principal of the college, Dr. Sashikanta Saikia, said that Akashvani centres have always provided people with a sense of life philosophy. Calling it the only popular social and cultural medium of modern India, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the “Mann Ki Baat” programme on 3 October 2014, and now the programme has already crossed one hundred episodes. He described it as a popular programme and said that it was launched with the aim of reaching every citizen of the country, including those in remote areas, and sharing the Prime Minister’s thoughts and feelings with them.He further mentioned that former US President Barack Obama had jointly participated with Prime Minister Modi in the “Mann Ki Baat” programme in January 2015. He also stated that the programme is broadcast after being translated into more than 22 Indian languages and 11 foreign languages. He added that “Mann Ki Baat” has become the most widely listened-to radio programme in the world. He also noted that the programme was broadcast live at the United Nations headquarters.In the programme conducted by Professor Dr. Biraj Dutta, he said that it is essential for all members of the younger generation to listen to the Prime Minister’s “Mann Ki Baat” broadcast through Akashvani. He mentioned that arrangements were made at Dibrugarh Hanumanbax Surajmal Kanai College so that everyone could enjoy the programme and connect the younger generation with the dreams of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.At the event, hostel monitor Varshi Gogoi welcomed all attendees by presenting each of them with a traditional “Phulam Gamosa.” Among those present were Dhruvajyoti Gogoi, General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha, Dibrugarh district; hostel warden Urmila Ramsiyari; and more than one hundred and fifty students.
