NCC contingent participates in Republic Day parade calls on Governor

NCC has an important role to play in national development: Prof. Mukhi

Guwahati,Rongili Barta- On the occasion of the 74th Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi, the NER Directorate NCC contingent representing NC boys and girls cadets of all the North Eastern states who participated in the Republic Day parade and PM’s rally called on Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi at Raj Bhavan. Out of 120 NCC cadets, maximum participation was from the NCC units of Assam. Congratulating each member of the contingent, Governor Prof. Mukhi felicitated the contingents and hailed the nationalistic spirit of the members and said that their display of patriotic fervour is an example to all. He also said that being into NCC teaches several other valuable things such as selflessness, honesty, discipline, hard work and ways to build confidence and gain leadership qualities. Hailing the contingent the Governor said that they were fortunate to have been selected to participate in the Republic Day parade. He called upon them to continue to excel in their future. He said that the NCC has a very important role to play in the national development of youth, who are the future of the nation. He also said NCC strengthens the spirit of being an Indian. The Governor further said that he is of the opinion that NCC training should be implemented in all schools and colleges which will enable the students to be more responsible towards their duties. The Governor felicitated all the cadets with the traditional gamocha and wished them luck for all their future endeavours. First Lady of the state  Prem Mukhi,  Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor, S.S. Meenakshi Sundaram, Major General Gagandeep Singh, Additional Directorate General N, NE Region Brigadier Dinar Dighe, Group Commander NCC Group HQ, Guwahati Brigadier Rajiv Kapoor and officials from Raj Bhavan were present during the function.
