Lovely Professional University (LPU) opens permanent outreach centre in Guwahati

Guwahati;Rongili Barta: Bringing good news for thousands of students in the Northeast region, Lovely Professional University (LPU), Punjab has inaugurated a permanent outreach centre in Guwahati, located at Ambari, opposite Rabindra Bhawan. Spanning 1200 square feet, the new centre will serve as a dedicated hub for counselling, entrance test facilitation, and comprehensive guidance for students aspiring to join LPU.

“Each year, more than 1,000 students from the Northeast states are enrolled in Lovely Professional University across various disciplines such as Engineering, Agriculture, and more,” said Bhuvan Sareen, Asst. Director and Zonal Head of East India. “With this new permanent centre, students will be able to communicate more effectively with the university. Earlier, we conducted temporary camps across the region, and while those will continue, this centre now offers a round-the-year support system for free counselling and information.”

In a major value addition for school students, the centre will also conduct free psychoanalytic sessions for students from Class VIII onwards, helping them with career selection and long-term planning based on their strengths and interests.

The inauguration ceremony of the Guwahati centre was graced by several esteemed guests, including Anjan Sarma, noted literary figure and Sahitya Akademi Translation Awardee; Balendra Kr. Das, Pro Vice Chancellor at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM); Rituraj Phukan, environmental writer, TEDx speaker and climate activist; and Prabir Kr. Das, Chairman, Assam Inland Water Transport Regulatory Authority. Their presence added great value and encouragement to the occasion.

LPU, graded A++ (3.68/4) by NAAC and holding UGC ‘Category-1’ autonomy status, offers over 150 programmes spanning diverse fields including Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data Science, Cyber Security, Journalism, Fashion Design, Law, Biotechnology, Agriculture, Hotel Management, Film & TV Production, Food Technology, Environmental Sciences, and more.

The university awarded scholarships worth over Rs 100 crore last year itself, reinforcing its commitment to accessible, high-quality education. LPU has consistently earned top rankings, featuring in the Top 10 Indian universities in THE World University Rankings, along with prominent positions in QS Asia and THE Impact Rankings. Notably, it is one of the first Indian universities to be placed in the Global Top 50 of THE Impact Rankings 2025.
