Lok Bhavan Assam celebrates Asom Divas with organizing “TB Mukt Bharat” health camp

Guwahati,Rongili Barta: On the occasion of Asom Divas, Lok Bhavan, Assam in association with Health and Family Welfare department, Government of Assam, organized a health camp dedicated to the vision of a “TB Mukt Bharat”, under the leadership of Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya at Uzan Bazar today.

In alignment with the Prime Minister’s call for a tuberculosis-free India, the health camp was conducted as part of the campaign “Lok Bhavan se Lok Seva ki Ore”, representing service and welfare for the people. A Mobile Medical Unit was deployed at the venue to provide TB screening, medical consultation, and awareness on prevention and early detection.

Addressing the people on the occasion, Governor Shri Acharya said, “Raj Bhavan has now become Lok Bhavan- Lok means for the people and for their development. Inspired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, we will do our part to remain healthy and contribute to a Viksit Bharat. Lok Bhavan will be a catalyst to realize the vision of Viksit Bharat”. He encouraged citizens to make full use of available health services and actively participate in nation-building through improved community health”.

The Governor also highlighted that nationwide initiatives, which have been launched to eliminate tuberculosis, and that Assam, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has been implementing programmes to strengthen the state’s TB elimination efforts.

Reaffirming the collective mission, the Governor stressed the progression from TB Mukt Gaon to TB Mukt Rajya, ultimately leading to a TB Mukt Bharat. The event concluded with renewed commitment toward community health empowerment, expanded access to healthcare, and accelerating Assam’s contribution to the national goal of a tuberculosis-free India.

A total of 203 patients were screened across various departments, including Dental, ENT, Medicine, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, and others.

Director of Health Services Dr. Umesh Phangsu, DDC Kamrup (M) Parijat Bhuyan along with other health officials were also present.
