Each of her songs is a priceless gem. On this solemn day, the remembrance of her passing, we pay our deepest respects to the Melody Queen whose voice enriched Assamese music as well.

Today marks the death anniversary of the Nightingale of India, Lata Mangeshkar. On February 6, 2022, the legendary singer bid farewell to this world, leaving behind an unmatched musical legacy that continues to enchant countless listeners and admirers. Born on September 28, 1929, in a Marathi family, Lata Mangeshkar lent her mesmerizing voice to over 30,000 songs in more than 20 languages. Recognizing her immense contribution, the Government of India honored her with the highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna. On this sacred day of remembrance, we offer our heartfelt tribute to this iconic artist.

She had a deep affection and admiration for Assam, often expressing her warmth and love for the land and its people. Even beyond Indian and global languages, her renditions in Assamese remain immortal, gifting us an invaluable musical treasure.

In memory of her, a chowk in Ayodhya will be renamed after her, a fitting tribute to a voice that continues to live in the hearts of millions of fans and admirers. She was not just a singer but an inspiration—teaching us the power of a simple way of life, driven by values, passion, and an unrelenting pursuit of excellence.

Humble tribute to the prolific singer, the “Melody Queen of India” Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar Ma’am on her 2nd death anniversary. She was popularly known as “Nightingale of India,” “Voice of the Millennium,” and “Queen of Melody.” She recorded songs in over 36 Indian languages and a few foreign languages, primarily in Marathi, Hindi, and Bengali.

Her global recognition includes being honored as an Officer of the National Order of the Legion of Honour by France in 2007, the country’s highest civilian award. She also received 3 National Film Awards, 15 Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Awards, 4 Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards (before declining further ones), 2 Filmfare Special Awards, and the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. In 1974, she became the first Indian playback singer to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London. She even held a Guinness World Record as the most recorded artist in history, later succeeded by her sister, Asha Bhosle.
