Inter-Ministerial Central Team visited Flood affected districts

Guwahati, Rongili Barta : In view of the current flood situation in the State, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) along with all the stakeholders expedited the response and recovery services to the severely affected districts. Some of the major initiatives undertaken in the last 24 hours are:
1. To accelerate an effective damage assessment, the first team of Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) from Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Govt. of India today visited the flood affected areas Panchgram town relief camp, Thanderpar relief camp and other flood affected areas under Algapur Revenue Circle in Hailakandi district. Further, the team also visited the flood affected areas of Lama Bahadurpur and Nilambazar Revenue circle in Karimganj district as a part of their scheduled field visit to Assam for damage assessment of recent flood in the State.
2. The second group of IMCT visited embankment breach areas and damages in Mora Kalang, 2 no. Gunamara, Padum Pukhuri, Dahuti Padum Pukhuri, Domal in Marigaon district today. In Kamrup district, the Team visited the breach points in Kayan revenue circle for necessary damage assessment. The team has discussed the situation with the district administration and assured of quick response to restore the damages.
3. Both the teams will return to Guwahati tomorrow after visiting the rest of the flood affected districts as per the scheduled visit plan and would discuss their views with Chief Secretary, Govt. of Assam in the wrap-up meeting at Assam Secretariat.
As per the Flood Report till date, the major points are:
A. 29,70,405 population of 2,450 villages in 30 districts are still affected by flood.
B. 63314.75 hectares crop area is still inundated.
C. 14 human lives lost in last 24 hours taking total human lives lost to 173 (155 in Flood & 18 in Landslide) since April 6, 2022.
D. 563 relief camps and 331 relief distribution centres are still functioning in affected areas with 3,03,484 inmates.
E. Flood situation in the State is improving as water is receding from the affected areas.
