Inauguration of Regional Training Camp for 79th Round of NSO Socio-Economic Survey
Survey to be Conducted on Comprehensive Annual Modular Survey and AYUSH

Dispur, Rongili Barta : The National Statistical Office ( NSO ), Field Operations Divisions ( FOD ), Regionl Office (RO) Guwahati under Union Ministry of Satistics & Program Implementation inaugurated the 3 day Regional Training Camp ( RTC ) for the 79th Round of Socio-Economic survey today. The survey, to be carried out from July,2022 to June, 2023, is earmarked for Comprehensive Annual Modular Survey ( CAMS ) and AYUSH. CAMS is designed to collect information required to generate some important socio-economic indicators, demands for which have increased significantly during the past few years. The data collected during the survey also facilitate globally comparable indices, for measuring and monitoring the performance of the country in various socio-economic dimensions. The survey of NSS 79th round on AYUSH is also first of its kind which is aimed to get an idea on awareness and usage of AYUSH system of medicine. The three days RTC from 13th June,2022- 15th June,2022 has been organised by the NSO,(FOD), RO Guwahati to impart training to all field officers from Field Operations Division and Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Government of Assam in collection procedures, survey instruments etc. In her inaugural address Swapnalee Bhattacharya, Deputy Director General, NSO (FOD), RO Guwahati mentioned about the glorious legacy of data collection by NSO through scientific procedures since its inception and stressed the importance of how public cooperation during the survey is essential to achieve the desired outcome. “The survey data will be collected using Computer Assisted Personal Interviews (CAPI) software in tablets, which will facilitate checks and validations even while data is recorded in during the field interviews. This digitisation of data collection will enable the generation of reliable and robust data in shorter duration”, she specified. She mentioned about the pivotal role to be played out by Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Assam while carrying out this exercise in the region. She also stressed on the importance and role of media in creating public awareness regarding the survey which can ensure the latter& cooperation. Like previous rounds, this round of survey will cover the whole of the Indian Union expect the villages in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The districts that will be covered by NSO, Field Operatios Division, RO Guwahati are Baksa ( including current Tamulpur ), Barpeta, Bongaingaon, Cachar, Chirang, Dhubri, Dima-Hasao, Goalpara, Hailakandi , Kamrup(R), Kamrup(M), Karbi Anglong, Karbi- Anglong (W), Karimganj, Kokrajhar, Nalbari and South Salmara Mankachar. B.C Payeng, AD, RO, Guwahati and Nirupama Talukdar, Director , DES, Assam were among the dignitaries present during the occasion.
