Heart Care Society of Assam Celebrates Women Heart Month at Guwahati Press Club
Rongili Barta- Heart Care Society of Assam, a non-profit NGO and a member of the World Heart Federation, celebrated Women Heart Month in a befitting manner at a function at Gauhati Press Club today. The month of February is observed as Women Heart Month to create awareness about heart ailments of people particularly among women. Heart Care Society of Assam (HCSA) has carried out many awareness programmes and health check-up camps at various places of the state of Assam during the month of February and today’s programme at Gauhati Press Club is the culminating programme of the Women Heart Month, 2024. At the outset, Mrs. Nilakshi Goswami Baruah, Secretary of the Ladies Forum of HCSA gave a warm welcome to the eminent guests, dignitaries and the media persons. The programme started with a devotional song from Mrs. Shikhamoni Bezbaruah Goswami. Mr. I. Mazid, the Vice-President of the Society spoke on the mission and vision of the Heart Care Society of Assam, its various activities and regarding celebration of Women Heart Month every year in the month of February. Dr. N. K. Bhattacharjee, a renowned cardiologist and President of the Heart Care Society of Assam, gave a presentation on Heart Care and Health Care particularly for women. He also introduced an ambitious project named CRIS-CARD (comprehensive cardiac risk inventory and score card), a free service for Heart Care for Women in partnership with Apollo Clinic, Ulubari, Guwahati. In the panel discussion, eminent doctors Dr. Jayashree Hanse Barah, a senior gynaecologist, Dr. Chiranjita Phukon, noted Physician and secretary of API, Guwahati Chapter, Dr. Chandra Prasad Thakur, a young Cardiologit, Dr. Runjon Terongpi, Internal Medicine Specialist, and Physician Dr. B. B. Kukreja discussed at length on various aspects of heart ailments and women health including the causes, prevention and management. There was a lively interactive session where the panellists answered to various queries on heart and health care raised from the audience. The session was moderated by Dr. N. K. Bhattacharjee, who summed up the discussion giving a call to everyone to take timely and appropriate measures to keep the heart healthy and life happy.
The programme was also attended by the President of HCSA Guwahati Chapter, Secretary of the Guwahati Chapter Mr. Pranjal Kumar Sharma, Secretary HCSA Mr Debasish Banerjee, Media Coordinator Ms. Manashree Prakash and many other active members of the society. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Mrs. Rupa Bhattacharjee, P.R. Co-ordinator of Guwahati Chapter of the Heart Care Society of Assam.
