Governor takes stock of government schemes in Majuli
Visits Majuli University of Culture and its under construction permanent campus
Guwahati, Rongili Barta: Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi on the last leg of his two day tour to island district Majuli, held a meeting with the district administration and took stock of implementation of the Central and State government schemes being executed in Majuli.
During his meeting with the Deputy Commissioner and other departmental heads in the district, Prof. Mukhi asked the functionaries to ensure that the schemes are implemented in latter and spirit to touch the lives of all sections of people of Majuli. On agricultural front, the Governor took stock of the schemes to achieve farmers’ welfare as well as doubling of their income. He asked the Agriculture department to motivate the farmers and ensure their capacity building for increasing rice production as State government will procure their produce with right kind of MSP.
The Governor also held a meeting with the Vice Chancellor of Majuli University of Culture and took stock of its academic performances including the infrastructural development. He also visited the site where permanent campus of the university is being made and inspected the progress of the construction works.
Later, Governor Prof . Mukhi during his visit to Jorhat district also paid a visit to Assam Women’s University. He said that the appointment of a new VC lent a new momentum to the development of the varsity. He also visited Assam Agricultural University and held a meeting with faculty members and administration of the university. He said that the university is playing a vital role in the creation of human resources for the agriculture based economy of the state. He also said that he is taking special initiatives for the development of the university including capacity building of its faculty members.
He also visited the JB College(Autonomous), and interacted with the faculty members.
