Governor takes stock of activities of Welfare of Bodoland Department and Hill Areas Development department  KAAC and NCHAC

Guwahati,Rongili Barta-  Assam Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria took a comprehensive briefing on the activities of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) in the presence of the Hills Areas Department Minister Jogen Mohan. The Addl Chief Secretary HAD Biswaranjan Samal and the Principal Secretary KAAC Mukul Kumar Saikia gave an overview of various departmental endeavors, including Health and Family Welfare, PWD, and the Agriculture Department. Special attention was given to a detailed report on the effective implementation of key initiatives such as Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and PM-KISAN. Furthermore, the Principal Secretary highlighted notable practices undertaken by the council for the benefit of the people of the region. The Governor stressed on the digital services to ensure large-scale access and reach of the government schemes. In addition, the Principal Secretary of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) presented an overview of the council’s activities, encompassing budget allocation and utilization, as well as the progress of both central and state-sponsored schemes. A special emphasis was placed on the “Super 30” initiatives aimed at providing UPSC and APSC coaching to selected candidates from the region. The Governor acknowledged the positive impact of both councils on tourism, emphasizing that with adequate government support, the tourism potential of the regions could be significantly enhanced. He noted the uniqueness of the products and crops in the area, suggesting that proper marketing could create a distinctive identity for these regions nationally. The Governor appreciated the efforts and initiatives undertaken by both councils, recognizing their significance not only in governance but also in contributing to the economic and cultural vibrancy of the regions. Earlier, the Governor took stock of the initiatives undertaken by the Bodoland Welfare Department in conjunction with the Bodoland Territorial Council in the presence of the Minister U.G.Brahma and CEM BTC Pramod Boro. In addition to engaging in budgetary discussions concerning its efficient utilization, the Governor was briefed on the council’s strategic efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Principal Secretary also presented an overview of the SDG Rankings for 2021, as assessed by UNDP and NITI Aayog, highlighting the performance of all districts within the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
