Governor releases two books: Chanakya and Vidur

Guwahati,Rongili Barta: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya released two books, Chanakya and Vidur, authored by Padmashree Dr. Joyshree Goswami Mahanta, at a function held in a city hotel here this evening. The book release function also synchronizes with the birthday of former Chief Minister Shri Prafulla Kumar Mahanta.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Shri Acharya wished Shri Prafulla Kumar Mahanta on his 72nd birthday and congratulated Mrs. Dr. Mahanta for authoring the two books.  Praising her pioneering efforts in preserving and promoting literature and culture, Shri Acharya said “You have been a pioneer in preserving and promoting literature and culture. It is heartening that you have been honored with numerous awards, including the Sahitya Akademi Award”.

 

Governor Shri Acharya emphasized the significance of books in reflecting the culture, ideology, and knowledge. Stating that the books are the mirror of culture, ideology, and knowledge, he advocated that the books should be companion to every individual. The Governor commended Mrs. Dr. Mahanta’s dedication to promoting India’s rich cultural heritage, aligning with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of advancing development while nurturing country’s heritage.

 

Shri Acharya said that the two books, Chanakya and Vidur, reflect Dr. Mahanta’s profound thought process and deep contemplation of India’s historical and mythological lineage. The Governor said that he believed that these two significant works will help the masses comprehend the intellect, wisdom, and philosophies of India’s great personalities.

The function was attended by Chancellor of Assam Down Town University Dr. Narendra Nath Dutta, Chairman of Sankardev Nethralaya Padma Shri Dr. Harsh Bhattacharyya, Retired Professor of Gauhati University Dr. Aparajita Barkataki along with a host of other dignitaries.
