Governor pays tributes to heroes of the 1962 War at Gajaraj War Memorial

Visits LGB Regional Institute of Mental Health

Guwahati, Rongili Barta-  Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria during the last lag of his tour to Sonitpur district, visited the famed Gajaraj War Memorial in 4 Corps in Tezpur and paid rich tributes to the valiant heroes who fought in the war of 1962. Addressing the soldiers of 4 Corps of army’s Eastern Command the Governor expressed his deep admiration for the soldiers who showed supreme patriotism and indomitable courage and fought for the motherland. He also said that the spirit shown by the soldiers displayed the true essence of armed forces. He lauded their dedication and sense of sacrifice by which they lay down their lives in defense of the nation. Their sacrifices were the true testament to their  courage and love for the motherland. The Governor highlighted the role of the armed forces that extends far beyond the protection of the frontiers of the country and safeguarding the lives. He hailed their extraordinary humanitarian endeavors, showcasing their tremendous efforts during times of crisis. The Governor said that be it the natural calamities such as floods or global pandemics like Covid-19, the armed forces have always displayed exceptional dedication and commitment in helping the public. The Governor said that the commitment, combined with the government’s consistent attention and support, rendered the armed forces to face any emergency situation of the country.  Governor Kataria later visited the LGB Regional Institute of Mental Health in Tezpur. During the visit, the Director of the Institute, Dr. S.K.Deori gave a presentation, providing a comprehensive overview of the institution’s history, academic programs, amenities, facilities, and remarkable research work. Hailing the role of the institution in promoting mental health, the Governor reiterated on the need of generating awareness among the general public on the importance of mental health. Expressing his concern over the persisting stigma associated with mental health issues, the Governor exhorted the need for further education and awareness campaigns. The Governor interacted with the patients and listened to their problems. The Governor also took stock of the facilities available at the institute. The Governor expressed his satisfaction with the infrastructure and amenities provided to the patients, affirming the institution’s dedication to delivering high-quality mental health care.
