Governor pays rich tributes to Sudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika

Guwahati,Rongili Barta: On the 14th Punya Tithi of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya today paid rich floral tributes to the legendary music maestro at a programme held at Raj Bhavan.

Remembering the cultural legend and his unparallel contribution to the cultural landscape of the country, Governor Shri Acharya said that Dr. Bhupen Hazarika was not only a towering figure in India’s musical landscape but also a symbol of Assam’s cultural pride and human values. His songs, Shri Acharya noted, continue to inspire generations with messages of harmony, justice and universal brotherhood.

The Governor remarked that through his timeless creations, Dr. Hazarika manifested the hopes and struggles of the common people. His music transcended boundaries of language and region, carrying the spirit of the Northeast to the national and global stage.

Paying his rich tributes, Shri Acharya moreover said that multi-dimensional  contributions of the “Sudhakantha,” as a singer, lyricist, composer, poet, and filmmaker reflected his deep commitment to humanity and social harmony. His life and art continue to serve as a guiding light for those who seek to promote unity through creativity and compassion.

Governor Shri Acharya urged the youth of Assam to draw inspiration from Dr. Hazarika’s ideals and dedicate themselves to building a society of Dr. Hazarika’s vision which is rooted in peace, culture, and mutual respect.
