Governor launches two new schemes
The initiatives will strengthen the spirit of “Nation First”:Governor
Guwahati,Rongili Barta: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya,launched two new schemes namely Governor Assam Rashtriya Suraksha Protsahan Sankalp and Governor Assam Rashtriya Sewa Protsahan Sankalp at Raj Bhavan.
It may be mentioned that Assam Governor’s Rashtriya Suraksha Protsahan Sankalp is an initiative proposed and envisaged by Raj Bhavan, Assam, in partnership with the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Assam. The campaign aims to educate not only the NCC cadets but also the larger student community of 35 districts across the state in various academic institutions about different aspects of security. The program will be implemented through a structured hierarchy involving five NCC Group Headquarters, 27 NCC units, in association with District Administrations.
Governor Assam Rashtriya Sewa Protsahan Sankalp has been initiated in collaboration with the State National Service Scheme Cell (NSS), Assam. This scheme aims to encourage youth participation in community service, social welfare, and nation building activities. Through this initiative, the larger student community across the state in general and NSS volunteers in particular will be taught the ways and means about instilling in them the ethos of sacrifice and service before self. The NSS volunteers will engage in awareness programs, skill-building workshops, social service activities.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Acharya said, “From birth to death, we remain indebted to our motherland. Therefore, we must dedicate our lives, knowledge, service, and efforts to our nation. This is true patriotism and duty-consciousness.” Shri Acharya also said that National development is not only the responsibility of the army and police but also requires the active participation of every citizen, especially the youth. With this objective in mind, the Raj Bhavan, Assam, conceptualized the schemes enabling the youth to contribute effectively to national prosperity.
It may be noted that Raj Bhavan, Assam, has previously initiated eight schemes focused on the holistic development of various sections of society.
The event was attended by Advisor to the Governor Dr. Harbansh Dixit, Major General R.D. Sharma (GOC 51 Sub Area); VC Gauhati University Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta, VC Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University Prof. Rajendra Prasad Das, Commissioner & Secretary to the Governor S.S. Meenakshi Sundaram along with other university vice-chancellors, directors of NCC and NSS, and officers from Raj Bhavan.
