Governor inaugurates Medical Dispensary in Raj Bhavan
Guwahati, February 16: Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi inaugurated a medical dispensary in presence of Health and Family Welfare Minister Keshab Mahanta in the premises of Raj Bhavan today.
It may be noted that with the inauguration, the medical dispensary in Raj Bhavan campus would function on 24X7 basis. The dispensary will have an out patient service, in patients service, pharmacy services, laboratory services and 21 staff including five doctors.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Prof. Mukhi said close on the heels of the infrastructural development of quality health care services across the state, the medical dispensary will be yet another addition to meeting the health care requirements of the residents of Raj Bhavan. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has given tremendous emphasis on health care delivery system for all sections of the people, the strengthening of medical education and health infrastructure in the state would go a long way in realizing health for all.
Terming the inauguration of medical dispensary in Raj Bhavan as something which is very close to his heart, he requested the residents to make good use of the facilities given at the dispensary. He also said that the rapid medical education and quality infrastructural development of health care facilities in Assam and elsewhere in the country have also busted the myth that government hospitals are not good.
He also said that with all facilities put in place, the dispensary at Raj Bhavan will be as good as a hospital. He also thanked the Chief Minister and Health Minister for taking up the task of providing the full time dispensary in Raj Bhavan.
Health and Welfare Minister Keshab Mahanta speaking on the occasion reiterated the State government’s commitment to provide quality and advanced health care facilities in the state. He also thanked the Governor for his margdarshan which has helped the health department to fan out its resources to bring about a paradigm shift in the health care delivery system in the state.
The First Lady of Assam Prem Mukhi,Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor S.S. Meenakshi Sundaram, Commissioner & Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Sidharth Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup Metro Pallav Gopal Jha, Director of Medical Education Dr. Anup Kumar Das, members from the National Health Mission, Raj Bhavan staff and residents along with a host of other dignitaries were present at the inaugural function.
