Governor appeals to the youth to embrace service, sensitivity, and social responsibility as core values of life
Guwahati,Rongili Barta: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, inaugurated the 23rd Dhanvantari Seva Yatra 2026 and commended the initiative of the organizer as a unique example of India’s age-old tradition of service, compassion, and public welfare at a function held in Sewa Bharti Boys Hostel, Maligaon.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Shri Acharya said that India’s civilisational ethos has always placed lokmangal- the welfare of all, the centre of humanitarian services. He said that ideals such as “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah” and “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” continue to guide initiatives like the Dhanvantari Seva Yatra, where service is viewed not as charity, but as a sacred duty rooted in Indian culture.
The Governor described the Yatra as a living confluence of compassion, science, and culture, integrating modern medical practice with India’s holistic and ethical medical traditions. He also highlighted the role of voluntary organisations like Seva Bharati in strengthening healthcare outreach, especially in remote and underserved regions, while promoting preventive healthcare awareness on issues such as lifestyle diseases, cancer, anemia, and diabetes.

Hailing the commitment of doctors, paramedical staff, and volunteers, the Governor appealed to the youth to embrace service, sensitivity, and social responsibility as core values of life. He expressed hope that the campaign would continue to expand its reach and bring quality healthcare to the last person in society.
Jointly organised by Seva Bharati (Purvanchal) and the National Medicos Organisation (NMO) the Dhanvantari Seva Yatra has been continuously serving the people of the North Eastern region since 2005.
