Governor graces State-level ceremonial function of Amrit Kalash Yatra

Guwahati,Rongili Barta- Assam Governor, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, attended the state-level ceremonial function of the Amrit Kalash Yatra at Srimanta Sankardev International Auditorium here. It may be noted that after the success of the first phase of Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign, the second phase of the campaign was launched encouraging people to take part in Amrit Kalash Yatra. Under this programme, soil and rice were collected from villages in Amrit Kalash which were sent to blocks. From the block levels, the Kalash were sent to districts. From the districts the Kalash have been sent to Guwahati where in the Kalash were received in Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra. From Guwahati the Kalash will be transported to Delhi for the culmination of the campaign. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Shri Kataria spoke about the unique essence of the campaign, stating, “It serves as a reflection of our rich cultural heritage and monumental achievements. The campaign captures the spirit of India’s diverse socio-cultural, political, and economic facets, invigorating a renewed sense of patriotism and unity amongst us.” Highlighting the impact of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign, the Governor said that the initiative has significantly bolstered the spirit of nationalism amongst Indians. With the inclusive nature of the campaign, it has encouraged public participation at multiple administrative levels, from village to the national level, which would definitely strengthen the bond of friendship and fortify the unity and integrity of the nation, the Governor added.   He said that the Amrit Kalash Yatra, under the campaign of Meri Maati Mera Desh will witness 7,500 urns with soil from different parts of India transported to the National Capital. This soil will then be used to construct the Amrit Vatika and Amrit Udyan, symbolizing the ethos of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’, the Governor echoed. In line with the Prime Minister’s vision, the Assam Government have paid homage to Assam’s Veers and Veerangas. He also shared the government’s decision of using the left over holy soil for the construction of the Kanaklata Vishwavidyalay in Gohpur. Today, the event witnessed the assembly of two urns from each of the 270 locations across the state at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra. Of these, 270 urns will be taken to New Delhi, while the rest will be sent to Gohpur for the construction of the university. Expressing his gratitude, the Governor lauded the spirit of all participants and officials whose relentless efforts have ensured the overwhelming success of the campaign throughout Assam. The event was attended by the Minister of Cultural Affairs of Assam, Bimal Borah, Minister of Agriculture, Horticulture and Food Processing, Atul Borah, Minister of Education, Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Minister of Handlooms and Textiles, Urkhao Gwra Brahma, along with MPs, MLAs, Chief Secretary Paban Kumar Barthakur, DGP G. P. Singh, senior officials, and a host of dignitaries across the State.
