Governor felicitates cricketer Simu Das at Lok Bhavan

Guwahati,Rongili Barta: Acknowledging the extraordinary feat of Simu Das, an important part of Indian blind women’s cricket team that made the nation proud by winning the first ever Blind Women’s T-20 World Cup, Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya today felicitated her at Lok Bhavan.

The Governor praised Simu Das for her remarkable performance and commended her dedication, perseverance, and exceptional skill. He said that her achievements despite visual challenge, stand as a powerful inspiration for persons with disabilities across Assam and the nation.

It may be noted that in spite of hardship, Simu through sheer determination, continued her education and found hope through cricket. Identified and trained by the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), she honed her skills and earned a spot on the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team, transforming her life story into one of strength, discipline and national pride.

Governor Shri Acharya presented her a token of appreciation. He also exuded confidence that talents like Simu Das will continue to elevate Assam’s sporting excellence and enhance India’s global stature. Congratulating her, the Governor lauded Simu Das a true role model for the youth of the country, whose journey symbolizes hope, resilience, and excellence in sports. He conveyed his heartfelt wishes for her continued success and a promising future ahead.
