Governor attends swearing-In ceremony of BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary
Guwahati,Rongili Barta: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya today attended the swearing-in ceremony of the CEM and Deputy CEM of the 5th Executive Council of of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) held at Kokrajhar. Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota administered the oath of office and secrecy to Shri Hagrama Mohilary as CEM and Rihon Daimary as the Deputy CEM of the BTC.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Shri Acharya described the day as a “moment of happiness” for the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). He expressed confidence that the newly formed Executive Council will uphold democratic values and work with dedication toward the holistic development and welfare of the BTR.
Congratulating Shri Hagrama Mohilary and his team, the Governor remarked that this moment signifies both the outcome of the democratic process and the reaffirmation of public trust. He said that under the new dispensation, BTC will experience a fresh growth trajectory. On this occasion, Shri Acharya paid tribute to “Bodofa” Upendra Nath Brahma the visionary leader of the Bodo community, whose ideals of harmony and identity continue to inspire generations.
The Governor on the occasion also referred to the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi who articulated the threefold mantra of Peace, Progress, and Protection as the guiding principle for a Vibrant Bodoland. He praised the Centre’s continued commitment to the Northeast’s development, with BTR being a priority region.
“Bodoland is a land of immense cultural heritage, natural resources, and human potential. I am confident that under Shri Mohilary’s leadership, and with the active support of the Central and State governments, the region will witness accelerated growth, peace, and harmony,” the Governor stated.
He commended the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, particularly highlighting his instrumental role in the successful implementation of the 2020 Bodo Peace Accord, which laid the foundation for a new era of peace and development in the region. Expressing his appreciation to Prime Minister and Union Home Minister for their commitment to the peace and process, the Governor emphasized that the progress witnessed today is the outcome of years of dialogue, hard work, and shared sacrifice by numerous stakeholders.
As a constitutional authority, the Governor asked the newly elected Executive Council to adopt an inclusive and development-centric governance approach. He stressed the need for generating opportunities for youth, promoting industries, strengthening education and healthcare, and preserving the rich cultural fabric of the region.
“Let us all unite to realize the dream of a prosperous, peaceful, and united Assam. I once again extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the people of BTR and the newly formed Executive Council. May this new chapter be one of transformation, inclusiveness, and lasting progress,” the Governor concluded.
The occasion was graced by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma ministers of the State government, senior BTC officials, and several elected representatives from the region and host of other dignitaries.
