Governor attends programme for flagging off three train services, inauguration of a road overbridge, NIELIT University, and FM Station

Guwahati,Rongili Barta: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended a programme featuring flagging off three train services, and inauguration of road overbridge, NIELIT University, and FM Station at Guwahati Railway station. The event was flagged off by Union Minister of Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics Ashwini Vaishnaw, in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswas Sarma and Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita.

The three trains flagged off today include the Guwahati-New Lakhimpur Janshatabdi Express, New Bongaigaon–Guwahati Passenger Train, and Tinsukia–Naharlagun Express. The Tetelia ROB (Road Over Bridge) at Dispur, Guwahati, was also dedicated to the public.

In addition to these initiatives, the Union Minister virtually inaugurated the 10 KW FM Transmitter at Akashvani Kokrajhar and the NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology) Deemed to be University from the Railway Station.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya emphasized the significance of these initiatives in improving connectivity in Assam. He highlighted the state’s rich natural resources, cultural diversity, and traditional heritage, which will get a facelift in improving modes of connectivity. Governor Shri Acharya praised the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, under whose guidance significant improvements have been made in connectivity in Assam. He noted that these efforts will have a positive impact on the state’s socio-economic- academic development of the state.

The Governor also expressed his confidence in the Indian Railways’ ability to play a pivotal role in creating more employment avenues and integrating the economy. He lauded the inauguration of NIELIT University, which will provide advanced education in emerging digital technologies, and the launch of the new FM station in Kokrajhar, which will disseminate information about government schemes and programs to remote and rural areas.

These initiatives mark a significant step towards Assam’s development journey, as the Governor urged everyone to work together to overcome challenges and achieve their goals. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma also spoke on the occasion. Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ashok Singhal, Tourism Minister Jogen Mohan and a host of MPs and MLAs and other dignitaries also attended the inaugural function.
