Governor attends award distribution function of NCC NER

Honours best cadets, education institutes and NCC staff

Guwahati,Rongili Barta: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended the annual award function of NCC North Eastern Region (NER) at Dr. Bani Kanta Kakati auditorium here today. The event celebrated the outstanding achievements and contribution of cadets, education institutes and NCC Staff of all seven sister states for the year 2024-25.

 

Speaking on the occasion Governor Shri Acharya,  praised the awardees for their dedication and commitment and said that  the NCC cadets, are the strength of the nation, who always display their readiness to contribute to nation-building with discipline, courage, and a spirit of service.

Referring to the leaders like Captain Vikram Batra, Lieutenant Umar Fayaz and the like who made the country proud by their courage and leadership, the Governor called upon the cadets to emulate their inner strength and become able son of the country. Shri Acharya said that the cadets present at the award distribution function have indomitable courage, energy, determination, and patriotism and they can make their motherland proud of their services.

 

Shri Acharya also said, “Being a part of NCC is a matter of great pride. It not only teaches discipline but also instills a sense of service toward society and the nation. In NCC, one develops leadership skills, self-reliance, and confidence. NCC plays a vital role in developing character, fraternity, and a spirit of selfless service among the youth. This organization not only strengthens the social and cultural harmony of the country but also inspires young individuals to become responsible citizens”.

 

It may be mentioned that 55 awards were presented to individuals and education institutes who have significantly enhanced NCC’s image in 2024-25. Best Cadets were recognized for exceptional leadership and performance, while Best ANOs were honoured for their mentorship.

The Governor presented the trophies and banners to Jorhat for Best NCC Group of NER, 5 Assam Battalion NCC for Best NCC Unit of NER, while ANO Lt Moitree Hazarika of South Point School Guwahati was adjusted Best ANO (Female) and Capt J.P. Upadhya of Megahlaya was adjusted Best ANO (Male) of NCC NER. SUO Veerjyoti Sharma of Silchar was declared Best Cadet (Male) and SUO Bhawana Thapa was adjusted Best Cadet (Female) of whole NER.

 

Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare Nandita Garlosa, Senior Army officers, Major General Gagan Deep, Sena Medal, ADG NCC NER and all NCC Group Commanders of NCC NER, Defence Advisor of SBI also attended the function.
