Felicitation of litterateur and educationist Dr. Bhimkanta Baruah at his residence: Release of Dr. Aditi Baruah’s book

Hashim Ali,Dibrugarh,Rongili Barta: The faculty members of the Sanskrit and Assamese departments of Dibrugarh’s premier institution of higher education, Dibru College, observed this year’s Teachers’ Day in a unique way. Early in the morning, professors from both departments felicitated eminent educationist, linguist, retired professor of Dibrugarh University and Professor Emeritus, Dr. Bhimkanta Baruah, with a traditional fulam gamosa. On the same occasion, senior professor of the Sanskrit department and writer Dr. Aditi Baruah released her new book, dedicated to Dr. Bhimkanta Baruah, titled “Sanskrit Sahitya Taranga aru Prapti” (Waves and Attainments of Sanskrit Literature). Expressing gratitude for dedicating the book in his name and for allowing him to release it, Dr. Baruah blessed the teachers of both departments for honoring their guru in such a heartfelt way. In his inaugural address during the book release, Dr. Baruah highlighted the importance of learning Sanskrit, mentioning that the Assamese–Sanskrit grammar manuscript is currently at the handwritten stage at Dibrugarh University. Lamenting that no Assamese scholar has yet brought out such a book, he praised the author for her contribution.At the beginning of the event, author Dr. Aditi Baruah briefly spoke about her book. The dignified event, conducted by senior professor of the Assamese department Dr. Mousumi Dutta, also featured felicitatory speeches from Professor Dr. Manoj Sharma, Professor Dr. Smritirekha Chetia Sandikoi, Professor Dr. Biju Moran, Professor Dr. Himadri Sharma, and senior journalist Ratan Hazarika. Others present at the ceremony included Dr. Dolly Sutiya, Babul Das, Professor Pranab Pal of the Botany Department, and Dr. Bhimkanta Baruah’s wife, writer Nilima Baruah.It is noteworthy that the newly released book is Dr. Aditi Baruah’s seventh publication. Her other works include: Prachin Arbachin (2007), Nibandha Malika (2016), Niti Shatakam (2017), Chanakya Niti (2019), Mor Saa (2021), and Philosophy of Devotion in the Bhaktiratnakar (2021).
