Eye Check-up Camp Conducted at CISF and BCPL Units under the Initiative of the Red Cross Society in Dibrugarh
M Hashim Ali,Dibrugarh, Rongili Barta- An eye check-up and treatment camp was organized today under the initiative of the Dibrugarh District Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society. The camp was conducted with the cooperation of the Department of Ophthalmology of Assam Medical College and in close coordination with the CISF and BCPL units. The programme was held at the CISF Township, Lepetkata, within the Dibrugarh campus. At the beginning of the programme, the President of the Indian Red Cross Society, Dibrugarh, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Shrutikar, welcomed all those present and spoke about the importance of eye care in every aspect of life. He stated that due to strict responsibilities and busy duties, security personnel are often deprived of regular medical facilities. Through this camp, the Red Cross Society made an effort to provide them with a small yet meaningful support.The Vice-President of the Indian Red Cross Society, Dibrugarh, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Jain, delivered an encouraging address highlighting the necessity of health protection for a healthy and strong life. PGT doctors from Assam Medical College, Dr. Ahidur Rahman and Dr. Tanzima Ahmed, spoke about the importance of eye care in daily life and advised regular eye examinations. They emphasized that the eyes are one of the most important organs of the human body. Earlier, the Secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society, Dibrugarh, Anuj Kumar Barua, gave a brief introduction to the objectives and activities of the camp. Among others present at the camp were Ripunjay Barua, Samir Kumar Sharma, Pradeep Kumar Dev Goswami, Dr. Sultana Hazarika, and Prabal Das.A total of 45 individuals underwent eye examinations, including 30 men and 15 women. According to the examination results, refractive errors were detected in 13 individuals, while one individual was found to have squint. No cases of glaucoma, conjunctivitis, pterygium, or cataract were detected among the remaining participants.At the conclusion of the camp, Dr. Sultana Hazarika expressed gratitude to all participants.
