Rongili Barta- Acclaimed filmmaker Shankar Borua’s latest cinematic creation, BLUE OCEAN (Hindi/Punjabi/English, 133 mins., 2025), represents his inaugural foray into the vibrant realm of Hindi film. Beginning 17 November 2025, this artistic endeavour is set to initiate an extensive tour across multiple esteemed universities in North India (including Punjabi University, Patiala, Panjab University, Chandigarh, DIT University, Dehradun, DAV University Jalandhar, and many more), where it will be showcased through a captivating series of screenings.

Borua and his producing partner Shellee (well-known Bollywood lyricist) who is also the lyricist-composer for BLUE OCEAN, will take the initiative to personally participate in those film screenings at universities, where they will immerse themselves in engaging discussions with audiences, actively take part in enlightening Q&A sessions with students, and promote deep and enriching dialogue with both aspiring film students and seasoned industry professionals alike.

Dr. Shankar Borua stands out as an accomplished scholar-practitioner, filmmaker, entrepreneur, and mentor for startups, possessing more than twenty years of diverse experience that spans across academic sectors, the creative arts, and entrepreneurial frameworks in both North America and South Asia. Dr. Borua, a native of Assam, has established himself in the field of Mass Communications with a Ph.D. from Texas Tech University in the United States.

In a career spanning fictional features and documentaries, Borua’s filmography includes a number of critically acclaimed works, such as Angst at Large, If God Be With Us, All Those Longings, Center Mass, Hope is a Good Thing, Beleaguered, Grief on a Sunday Morning, The Curiosity Shop, Colorful, and Save The Himalayas. Borua’s latest venture BLUE OCEAN is a compelling story set in Dehradun, India, at the foothills of the magnificent Himalayas, delving into issues of crime, greed, deception, and treachery. At the heart of the storyline is ‘Blue Ocean’, a gym that functions as a distinct microcosm, populated by individuals confronting the dichotomy of truth and deception as they near the conclusion of the first quarter of the 21st century. Alongside, Borua explores the burning issues of climate change and the environmental consequences of constant human intervention in the Himalayan region, a critical subtext in BLUE OCEAN.

Similar to his earlier works, Borua selects his locations with the careful consideration of a storyteller and the instinctive insight of a traveler. The film showcases some of the most captivating and emotionally resonant songs by the acclaimed lyricist-composer Shellee, who, in collaboration with Shankar Borua, has also taken on the role of producer. BLUE OCEAN, a crime thriller, is anticipated to captivate viewers with its intricate blend of mystery and psychological depth.

The film’s Executive Producers are Somdeep Mishra and Raaj Mansata; the Directors of Photography are Vinayak Jinde and Jeet Jadhav. The editing of the film was done by Jiten Borah who completed a decade-long creative association with Borua this year.
