“Differences must be removed and the flag of harmony must be flown”-Hyder Hussain at the Silver Jubilee celebrations of The Center for Islamic Studies, a social organization of Dibrugarh

Hashim Ali,Dibrugarh,Rongili Barta- Speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Silver Jubilee of the Center for Islamic Studies, a social organization of Dibrugarh, prominent journalist and critic Hyder Hussain said that attempts are being made to create division in the society. Institutions like the Center for Islamic Studies must come forward to remove disintegration and fly a banner of harmony in the society. Speaking at a discussion held as a part of the silver jubilee celebration of the Centre for Islamic Studies, on 23rd of June, on the topic of “The Present and Future of the Muslim Youth of Assam” held at the local Eidgah Hall in Dibrugarh Sri Hussain said that, “ The youths of community have been taking part in the development of the society at large but there is a need for the Muslim community to work together in a more concerted way in other positive areas to prevent the trend of some misguided youths getting derailed. There is a requirement of participating in the social development of people from all religions. He also emphasized on broadening the mindset through modern education. The meeting started with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Maulana Bahar Uddin Shahab. The meeting also honoured several distinguished octogenarians involved in the social life of Dibrugarh and presented a memento and a plaque of appreciation to them. The persons honoured included Debi Prasad Bagrodia, Nabeen Sarma, Sardar Ajit Singh, Imran Hussain, Mala Rani Dey and Faiza Khatun. Some members of the organizing committee belonging to the same age group with contributions to the society were also felicitated. They were Abdul Haque, Muhiuddin Ahmed Jilani, Dr. Colonel Asadullah, Sharifur Rahman, Firoz Khan, ASN Ahmed Hazrika, Dr. Reza Bora, Isfaqur Rahman Barbara, Zainul Abedin, Momina Nomani, Sakina Nomani and Habibur Rahman. Dr. Mas’udul Haque, one of the founder members of the organisation, delivered the introductory speech. He said that the magazine ‘Anubhuti’ was born to present the true interpretation of Islam. The event was attended by Dr. Ranjit Singha, Retired Professor, Dibru College, who inaugurated the Silver Jubilee Special Issue of the Centre’s mouthpiece, Anubhuti, edited by Abdul Khalek. The event also witnessed lecture delivered by retired Professors Sudakshina Das, Dr. Bharti Dutta, poet Nekib Islam and Professor Aditi Barua. Dr. Ahmedullah Khan the president of the organization presided over the function and it was moderated by Shehir Ahmed and Ijazur Rahman. The Secretary of the organisation M Hashim Ali was involved in an accident and in his place the Associate Secretary Abdul Sajid accomplished the various tasks that were needed. At the end of the programme Imran Hussain gave the vote of thanks.
