Byatikram to Commemorate Sachin Jayanti in Guwahati on October 28

“S D Burman Memorial Byatikram Lifetime Achievement Award 2024” will be conferred to Assam’s Heartthrob Zubeen Garg”

Rongili Barta- The socio-cultural organization Byatikram, known for fostering cultural ties and promoting harmony in the North East, is set to commemorate the death anniversary of legendary music composer Sachin Dev Burman on October 28, 2024, at Pragjyoti ITA Center, Machkhowa, Guwahati. The event will begin at 5 PM and is supported by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department of the Government of Tripura, News Bengal 365, and NEDFi.

A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the prestigious “S D Burman Memorial Byatikram Lifetime Achievement Award 2024” to Assam’s very own musical sensation, Zubeen Garg. Recognized for his remarkable contributions to the music and film industry, Zubeen Garg expressed his heartfelt gratitude, stating, “Like Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, Sachin Dev Burman is the pride of the North East. It is an honor for any artist to receive an award in his name.”

The program is part of Byatikram’s ongoing efforts to celebrate cultural icons and reinforce the deep-rooted bonds between Assam and Tripura. Just last month, the organization successfully commemorated Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s 98th birth anniversary in Agartala, Tripura, with a delegation led by Samar Hazarika, brother of the legend.

The event in Guwahati will be graced by distinguished guests, including the Governor of Telangana and former Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, who is also a relative of Sachin Dev Burman. The Maharaja of Tripura, Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barma, and renowned musician Tithi Debbarman, winner of the Bhupen Hazarika Exceptional International Award 2024, will also attend.

Other notable attendees include Tripura Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, Assembly Deputy Speaker Ram Prasad Paul, Agartala Mayor and MLA Deepak Majumder, Tripura Information and Cultural Department’s Principal Secretary Pradeep Kumar Chakraborty, prominent singer Manisha Hazarika, and popular actor Seema Biswas. A special souvenir edited by poet and novelist Sankha Subhra Devbarman will be released in honor of the musical maestro.

The evening will also feature a cultural extravaganza, with performances by Subasana Dutta, Chitralee Goswami, Jayati Bhattacharya, Pranita Talukdar, Manoj Kashyap, Joy Chakraborty, Saparja Dhar, Priyanjali Das, Chandrima Shyam, Kundal Raj Chakraborty, Tanisa Dutta, and many more. A special dance performance led by dancer Champa Chakraborty will include 50 dancers, all performing to the music of Sachin Dev Burman. The event will be inaugurated by 118 artists led by Suvendu Banerjee, with the music of Sachin Dev Burman setting the tone for the evening.

Dr. Saumen Bharatiya, President of Byatikram, emphasized that the event is more than just a tribute to Sachin Dev Burman. “Assam has a long-standing relationship with Tripura, and this event is an exceptional opportunity to strengthen the friendship between the people of the two states through the timeless tunes of Sachin Dev Burman and Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. We plan to hold similar cultural programs in other parts of the North East in the coming days,” he said.
