Assam Governor visits the permanent site of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University in Dibrugarh
Guwahati,Rongili Barta: In a move to review the progress of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University, Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya visited the permanent campus of the varsity at Chabua in Dibrugarh district.
During the visit, Vice Chancellor Prof. J.P.Verma gave the picture of how the university will look like and apprised the Governor of the construction status. Executive Engineer, PWD (Building), Raj Kumar Chetri, provided a detailed report of the ongoing development works. Considering the unprecedented impetus that sports in the country received under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Governor Shri Acharya said that aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision for sports, State Government is giving paramount importance for the promotion of sports and creating flourishing infrastructure across the state. This has paved the way for nurturing talent and strengthening India’s sporting ecosystem.
Governor Shri Acharya asked the officials to expedite the construction work on a war footing to ensure the university is completed at the earliest. He highlighted that Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University has immense potential to provide the necessary impetus to aspiring sports persons, creating a hub for talent development and academic excellence in sports sciences in Assam. He further asserted that once completed, the university will undoubtedly attract students from across the country, bolstering Assam’s position as a key center for sports education.
To ensure steady progress of the construction, he assured all assistance from the Raj Bhavan. He also interacted with the students, assuring them that the university’s infrastructure would be completed soon, reinforcing the commitment of the Government to sports education.
The Governor’s visit is an extension of the government’s dedication to accelerating sports infrastructure development, ensuring that Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University emerges as a premier institution for sports education and training in the nation.
