Assam Governor visits Bodoland University; pays tributes to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma
Visits Bodoland Silk Park and the Eri Spun Mill; emphasizes on education and innovation of products to elicit global acceptance
Guwahati,Rongili Barta: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya today visited Bodoland University at Kokrajhar and laid a flower wreath at the statue of Upendranath Brahma to honor his legacy. He also took stock of the academic and administrative affairs of the university.
Later during his interactions with the faculty and administrative officials of the university, the Governor emphasized the importance of education in shaping India’s future. He highlighted the university’s pivotal role in driving holistic change. He stated, “As India grows rapidly, the responsibility of universities extends beyond imparting knowledge. We must also focus on building the character, intellect, and intelligence of our students.”
The Governor asked the Bodoland University faculty and administrative staff to operate with clear goals and align their objectives to contribute to national progress. He further remarked that instilling a “nation-first” mindset among students should be a priority for the university.
The Governor also visited the Biotechnology Kisan Hub and Technology Incubation Centre at Bodoland University, where he interacted with the farmers involved in mushroom cultivation. He expressed keen interest in the modern technologies available at the center, taking stock of the latest innovations aimed at supporting agricultural development.
Earlier in the day, Governor Acharya visited the Bodoland Silk Park and the Eri Spun Mill. Praising the high-quality products produced at the mill, he underscored the need for effective marketing strategies to promote these products globally. The Governor also asked for a detailed report on the mill’s specializations, with plans to take the mill’s product at the national and global level. He said that innovation of the products of the mill will enhance their acceptance among the customers.
The Governor later took part in ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’, a fortnight campaign on the theme- “Swabhav Swachhata- Sanskaar Swachhata” in Kokrajhar. It may be noted that the campaign being observed from 17th September to 2nd October across the nation on the occasion of celebrating 10 years of Swachh Bharat Mission.
The Governor also planted a sapling at BTC Secretariat campus as a part of Green Bodoland Mission.
