Assam Governor plants sapling as a part of “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign

Urges People to contribute to environment conservation

Guwahati Rongili Barta-  As part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya planted a sapling in honor of his mother at Raj Bhavan campus.

Highlighting the personal and collective responsibility to increase green cover of the nature, Governor Shri Acharya said,  “I have planted a sapling in my mother’s name, and I encourage everyone to do the same. By planting a sapling, we can significantly contribute to our green environment.”

The Governor also called upon the people especially the younger generation to actively involve themselves in the noble cause planting more trees and safeguarding the ecosystem. First Lady of Assam, Smt. Kumud Devi, also participated in the event by planting a sapling. Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor, SS Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary to the Governor, Kabita Deka and officials and Staff of Raj Bhavan attended the event.
