Bhakti movement which believed to have started its journey in the country centuries ago, was spearheaded by Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev in  Assam, Ramanand to the Central India and Sri Guru Nanak byDev ji to the western part of our country. This cultural and spiritual connectivity made the apparently diverse looking people of our country as one family. The British tried their best to destroy this unity. But then people like Dr. K. M. Munshi, Mahatma Gandhi and few others felt that they must do something to protect this unity which led to the formation of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan”. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor also said, “Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is a unique institution adored by many a luminaries around the world.  It has been serving the nation with great dedication and purpose for the last eight decades.  I wish the Guwahati Kendra of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan all success in all its endeavours. We understand that to build a modern India, the best foundation is our own culture, the best tool is our own hands and best material is our own aspirations. Therefore, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan should guide our human resources to the goal that is Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat”. Prof.Mukhi also said that Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, one of the most illustrated institutions in the world which was founded by Kulapati Dr. K.M. Munshi with the blessings of Mahatma Gandhi in 1938. The organization started its journey with an initiative to make available all ancient and modern Indian literary, spiritual, cultural, philosophical and intellectual texts at a very low price so that every Indian, rich or poor, can procure them and study them to become aware of our ancient cultural heritage. Since then the Bhavan has relentlessly and tirelessly expanded its activities with an eye on the holistic rejuvenation of Bharat.
