Assam Governor inaugurates Hans Renal Care Centre and Red Cross Physiotherapy Centre
Guwahati,Rongili Barta: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya inaugurated the “Hans Renal Care Centre” at Red cross Hospital in Guwahati. The dialysis unit is established through a collaboration between the Hans Foundation and the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Assam State Branch, to provide free-of-cost renal care services to patients. , marking a significant step in accessible healthcare.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor thanking the Hans Foundation and the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Assam State Branch for their humanitarian services said that their benevolence would go a long way in helping the needy to enajoy health and happiness. The Governor stating that ‘the first wealth is a healthy body’ emphasized the importance of health in Indian tradition. He said, “If we are healthy, our society is healthy, and our nation is healthy. Health forms the foundation of all happiness.”
He lauded the healthcare initiatives under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, highlighting schemes like Ayushman Bharat and state programs such as the Atal Amrit Abhiyan and Chief Minister’s Free Diagnostics Service. He described these initiatives as transformative measures benefiting the needy across the country.
The Governor also underlined the relevance of India’s ancient philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—”One Earth, One Family, One Future”—in guiding contemporary health and welfare initiatives. He expressed happiness that the collaboration between the Hans Foundation and the IRCS will enable Redcross Hospital to offer free dialysis services and other treatments to kidney patients locally, eliminating the need for them to seek services elsewhere outside the state.
In addition to inaugurating the dialysis center, the Governor also inaugurated the Red Cross Physiotherapy Centre at the hospital. Praising the efforts of The Hans Foundation and the IRCS, he stated, “This noble endeavor will serve as a benchmark for others and provide vital services to those in need.”
The event was attended by Chairman of Indian Red Cross Society, Assam State Branch, A.K. Absar Hazarika; CEO of The Hans Foundation,Sandeep J. Kapur; and a host of other dignitaries.
