Assam Governor inaugurates 49th Rashtriya Bal Vaigyanik  Pradarshani

Science exhibition like this helps to stimulate scientific bend of minds of future scientists: Governor 

Guwahati,Rongili Barta- “Science exhibition indeed provides a wonderful opportunity to generate curiosity among children, unleash their creativity and imagination,” said Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi while inaugurating the 49th Rashtriya Bal Vaigyanik  Pradarshani at Srimanta Sankardeva International Auditorium.

Speaking at the inaugural function which was organized by the Dept. of School Education, Government of Assam in collaboration with NCERT, New Delhi, Prof.Mukhi said,  “Science is the specific and specialized form of knowledge. The rich knowledge and positive thinking of man has made the present time a science era. With the help of science, man has made his life very simple and convenient. When on one hand, human beings have been successful in solving many problems with the proper use of science, on the other hand, because of its misuse  not only humans but also other creatures are facing new problems with every passing day. The science exhibition being organized showcases the glimpse of merits and demerits of science”. The Governor also said that science exhibitions play an important role in enhancing the scientific temperament of the children. It provides them a platform where they can showcase their creativity and talent. Children’s curiosity towards scientific research increases through science exhibitions. Also, the children get inspiration to visualize the future of the nation and become sensitive and responsible citizens.

Prof.Mukhi also said, “I believe that if a child is exposed to scientific ideas at the school level, he or she can develop scientific bend of mind which helps him to become a scientist in the future. He can be empowered by a sense of analytical skills and a creative approach to problem solving. Therefore, on this occasion, I would urge the teachers to motivate their students for new innovations and research-thinking. I am sure that through this science exhibition, more creativity and awareness will increase among our students which subsequently help them to showcase their scientific temperament at the national level.” It may be mentioned that NCERT and SCERT have jointly organized the event.  A total of 240 students of the country are participating in the “National Children’s Science Exhibition”, who are displaying their models. In addition, cultural programs will be held daily in the evening, where participants from each state will perform cultural programs specific to their state. Education Minister  and Chairperson of the organizing committee Dr.Ranuj Pegu also spoke on the occasion.

Advisor, Education Assam and Chairperson of the Organizing committee Prof.Nani Gopal Mahanta , Director Shamagra Shiksha, Assam Dr.Om Prakash, Secretary, Dept.of School Education S.N.Choudhury, Joint Director, NCERT Prof. Sridhar Srivastava, eminent scientist Dr. Prashant Goswami along with a host of other dignitaries were present at the inaugural function.
