Assam Governor attends first convocation of Krishnaguru Adhyatmic Viswavidyalay
Guwahati, Rongili Barta: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya today attended the first convocation ceremony of Krishnaguru Adhyatmic Viswavidyalay at Nasatra in Barpeta, where he conferred degrees to the graduates in presence of Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal.

Addressing the students on the occasion, Governor Shri Acharya paid his reverential salutations at the holy feet of Krishnaguru Prabhu and expressed his deep sense of joy for being present on the sacred occasion. He recalled that on this blessed land, Krishnaguru Prabhu established the Krishnaguru Sevashram, setting a distinct example of selfless service to humanity. The Sevashram, he said, was founded with the core objective of propagating and practising Krishnaguru Ek-Naam Dharma, rooted in the principles of pure monotheistic Sanatan Dharma.

Shri Acharya observed that the educational institutions run by the Sevashram are unique in nature, as they integrate academic learning with spiritual education. He noted that Krishnaguru Adhyatmic Viswavidyalay imparts value-based education aimed at shaping students into responsible, ethical and ideal citizens of society.
Calling the convocation an unforgettable milestone in the life of students, the Governor said that convocation celebrates years of dedication, perseverance and hard work of the students and teachers together. He extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all graduating students. He also warmly felicitated eminent Indian classical dance maestro Shri Jatin Goswami, who was conferred on an honorary degree.

Highlighting the life and legacy of Krishnaguru Prabhu, the Governor said that from the establishment of the Sevashram in 1974 with a vision of world peace to the creation of multiple educational institutions, every endeavour was inspired by human welfare, spiritual awakening and global harmony. Krishnaguru Prabhu firmly believed that material progress without spiritual consciousness remains incomplete and temporary.
Shri Acharya said that the university is contributing skilled and value-oriented human resources to society through diverse academic and professional disciplines such as physiotherapy, nursing, pharmacy etc, all guided by compassion and a spirit of service.

The Governor moreover said that the students have graduated from an institution that harmoniously blends spirituality with modernity. Under the National Education Policy, the university is promoting multidisciplinary education while laying equal emphasis on personality development, innovation, ethical values and spiritual growth.
Recalling the global eminence of ancient centres of learning such as Takshashila, Nalanda, Vikramashila, Ratnagiri and Sharadapeeth, the Governor noted with pride that Acharya Shilabhadra of Assam served as a distinguished teacher at Nalanda, underscoring Assam’s historic role in India’s intellectual and spiritual heritage.

The Governor emphasised that spiritual knowledge builds character and enriches human life. He lauded the Gurukul-based education system of Krishnaguru Sevashram, which inspires students to imbibe respect, devotion, love and harmony, thereby strengthening social bonds.
Defining Indian culture in one word as “spirituality,” Shri Acharya said spirituality elevates education beyond livelihood to become a guiding philosophy of life. He cited the ancient maxim “Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaye”, stating that true knowledge is that which liberates from all bandages. He expressed happiness that Krishnaguru Adhyatmic Viswavidyalay exemplifies this philosophy by integrating education with spirituality and service.

Referring to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s remarks during Pariksha Pe Charcha held on Sunday in Guwahati, the Governor said that education is a powerful instrument for nation-building and human upliftment. He observed that the university gives concrete expression to this vision by nurturing value-based human resources.
Shri Acharya further noted that Assam is steadily advancing across sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, culture and youth empowerment. The state has already proved its potential as the gateway to ASEAN countries. He underlined that educated, culturally rooted and spiritually conscious youth will be pivotal in this transformative journey.

Reiterating the national resolve to make India a developed nation by 2047, the Governor said this goal can be realised only through a balanced synthesis of education and spirituality, science and sensitivity, and success and service. He expressed confidence that the graduates of Krishnaguru Adhyatmic Viswavidyalay will lead meaningful lives and contribute significantly to the progress of the nation and society.
The convocation was attended by Vice Chancellor of the University Dr. Mohan Chandra Kalita, Chairperson of Krishnaguru Foundation Trust Kuntala Patowary Goswami, Eminent Indian Classical Dancer Guru Jatin Goswami, members of the Academic Council of the University, faculty members along with a host of other dignitaries.
