Assam Governor attends 5th state level award distribution ceremony of Sanskritik Mahasabha, Assam
Hails the organization for honouring good works and encouraging talents
Guwahati,Rongili Barta- Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria attended the fifth state level awards distribution ceremony of the Sanskritik Mahasabha, Assam at Sri Sri Madhabdev International Auditorium in the city. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Shri Kataria congratulated all the award winners and said that the ceremony is a reflection of the rich art and cultural heritage of Assam and also an opportunity to honor individuals for their outstanding achievements in their respective fields. The Governor appreciated the activities of Sanskritik Mahasabha, and said that the organization has taken various steps to uplift, showcase, propagate and preserve the traditional folk culture of various ethnic groups of Assam. “I have full confidence that these efforts of the Mahasabha will help in the development of greater Assamese culture as well as strengthen the bond of unity,in the society,” the Governor added. Shri Kataria also expressed happiness that the Cultural Mahasabha has decided to honor the eminent personalities who have contributed in different fields. The organization has also taken a commendable initiative of honoring the renowned artistes. The Governor said that Assam is a land with a rich cultural identity. Assamese culture encompasses the cultures of various ethnic and cultural groups. Each ethno-cultural system and sub-system has its own distinct identity which is reflected in the form of language, traditional crafts, folklore, festivals, performing arts, cuisine, literature etc. Shri Kataria said that the government is making new efforts every day in its mission to nurture and preserve the rich cultural tradition of the State. It may be mentioned that more than 106 people were honored at the award ceremony. The award function was attended by President of the Sanskritik Mahasabha Pabitra Kumar Sarma, President, Reception committee Dr.Hitesh Barua along with a host of other dignitaries.
