Speaking on the occasion the Governor observed that, ASTU has already embarked upon the path to positioning Indian technical education at the vanguard of progress. To ease the technical education in the State, the university is engaged in the commendable endeavor of translating a multitude of technical textbooks from English to the regional language of Assamese. The Governor also said that the main function of a university is to ignite the flame of knowledge, empower minds with skills, and forge the path of endless discovery through relentless research and boundless innovation. He also said that, raising the standard of ‘livelihood’ is essential in today’s age, but if the ‘standard of living’ is neglected, such education will be considered incomplete education. The purpose of education is not only to acquire bookish knowledge or wealth, its purpose is much greater. Congratulating the graduating students the Governor said, “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the degree holders for their achievements in their academic pursuits. As they step into the next phase of their journey, I have full confidence on each graduate that they will become torchbearers of positive change, propelling the society forward through groundbreaking advancements in the realm of science and technology.”Addressing the students, he also said, “Today, as you receive your well-deserved degree, let it be a testament to the fulfillment of life’s ultimate purpose. This achievement embodies the holistic development of your remarkable personality, showcasing your dedication not only to vocational education but also to the cultivation of invaluable life-building values and humanistic principles”. He further emphasized that in the ever-evolving landscape of modern world, it is the noble virtues of humanity to shine bright. In this context, he referred to extraordinary individuals like Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi, and Dayanand Saraswati, whose firm dedication to the betterment of society and the nation stands as a testament to the power of Indian values. In the pursuit of nation-building, it is of paramount importance to cultivate and fortify the very essence of character, goodwill, and unity. These virtues are the pillars upon which the collective progress and prosperity rest. With an unwavering commitment to nurturing these qualities in the students, they need to pave the path towards a brighter and more harmonious future, he added.
