ASDMA to set up safe shelters for landslide affected in the StateĀ
Guwahati, Rongili Barta: In view of the ensuing flood and rainy season in theĀ State, Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) directed allĀ the landslide prone districts of the State to pre identify the safe shelters (reliefĀ camps) for the people vulnerable to landslide during flood season and also toĀ relocate such vulnerable population to the safe shelters to reduce the possibilityĀ of life loss due to any incident of landslide in the State.Ā Ā
ASDMA, in view of this, issued necessary official instructions to theĀ landslide prone districts of the state i.e. Cachar, Dima Hasao, Hailakandi,Ā Kamrup, Kamrup Metro, Karbi Anglong, Sribhumi and West Karbi AnglongĀ districts to pre identify the landslide prone areas of the concerned districtsĀ immediately and notify the safe shelters (relief camps) with wide publicity for theĀ landslide affected people, in case any incident of land slide occurs. Through wideĀ publicity, the affected people would be able to find the safe shelters and can moveĀ to such safe shelters.Ā Ā
Taking into consideration of the casualties occurred in last three years inĀ the landslide vulnerable districts, viz. Cachar, Dima Hasao, Kamrup Metro andĀ Sribhumi, Gyanendra Dev Tripathi, Chief Executive Officer, ASDMA requestedĀ all the people living in most land slide prone vulnerable areas to shift themselvesĀ to safer places of their choice for the rainy period to reduce their vulnerability toĀ landslides.Ā
